From Cover to Cover was founded in 2013 by two moms with a desire to make a positive impact in their community.  During the Christmas season of 2012, they had each planned a service project for their family to lead.  Gina's was collecting new books to donate to children in need and Christina's was making tie blankets for a family who was struggling to provide gifts for their children that year.  The two moms saw the other's project on Facebook and the idea of From Cover to Cover was born.  The rest, they say, is history.

Our mission is to promote literacy among children at-risk by working cooperatively with targeted local schools to provide enrichment activities and opportunities for more print exposure through sponsored literacy nights, enrichment programs, and donations of new book and handmade fleece tie blanket sets.

From Cover to Cover is a 501(c)3 organization currently serving students in Scott and Clinton County in Iowa.  To date we have provided over 1200 book and blanket sets and donated over 15,000 books to local children.

We also provide literacy programs free of charge to select Davenport Title One schools, such as the Birthday Book Club, Book Angel Tree, and Crate Library Project.  To learn more about these programs, please visit our Programs page.

In 2018 a University of Iowa Student From Cover to Cover organization was formed. Their chapter solely focuses on the children undergoing treatment at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital as well as their siblings staying at the Ronald McDonald House. Their goal is to provide a source of comfort through the blanket paired with a book to promote reading during their time at the hospital. With over 60 members of their chapter, they are gaining momentum quickly!

We have been blessed with tremendous support from local civic organizations, businesses, church groups, college and high school students, and many dedicated blanket-making volunteers.  We are proud to be able to get kids involved in our mission through blanket making and book donations.
